Host Plants

American Basswood (Tilia americana), family Tiliaceae is the normal host, but has been reported from seven other families including Fagaceae (Oaks), Salicaceae (Willows) and Rosaceae (Clark et al. 2004).

Adult Activity: March 31-September 8 based on 12 specimens in Alabama (Balsbaugh & Hays 1972)

Similar Species: Only two species occur north of Mexico, about 40 additional species assigned to the genus occur in the Neotropics (Arnett et al. 2002).

Baliosus nervosus (Panzer) - Generally distributed in the eastern United States and adjacent Canada, west to Utah.
