Range: Kansas and Wyoming to Mexico. Common in southeastern Arizona.

Biology: Adults and larvae feed on a wide variety of wood rotting fungi, hence the family name of Pleasing Fungus Beetle.

Similar Species: Within this genus, only Gibbifer californicus occurs in the United States. Not present in Texas.
